Lionel Messi scored again on Friday in Inter Miami’s win against FC Charlotte. Unlike all the other games with Inter Miami, Messi didn’t have a huge role to play in this win for them. Josef Martinez opened the score through a penalty kick in the 12th minute. Robert Taylor, who has been in impeccable form since the arrival of the Argentine doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.
Miami players were fully running the game, even without much help from Lionel Messi. This was a rarity for the team who are still sitting at the bottom of the MLS. Charlotte was panicking the whole game, scoring an own goal in the 78th minute to give them a 3-0 lead. This had already sealed the game and they had pretty much entered the semi-finals of the League Cup against Philadelphia.
That’s when Messi sent his fans home with what they had paid for, seeing his name on the score sheet. This was his 8th goal in five games in the USA as he has fared amazingly there.
After his goal, he did the Spiderman celebration where he imitated the web-slinger superhero. This was mainly for his children who are said to be huge Marvel fans. Previously, he had done the Thor and the Black Panther celebration.
