Bukayo Saka has prevented Erling Haaland from achieving a double victory at the PFA awards by securing the Young Player of the Year title. The ceremony held in Manchester acknowledged Saka’s exceptional 2022/23 season with Arsenal, where he played a crucial role in their surprising Premier League title challenge.

Saka’s impressive performance included 15 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. It contributed to Arsenal’s strong title run against Manchester City. His efforts earned him a significant contract extension, making him the highest-paid player at Emirates Stadium. Fans on social media found the result unfair, while many also said that Saka deserved recognition after his performances.

Facing intense competition, including Erling Haaland, Saka emerged as the Young Player of the Year award winner. Although the PFA Premier League Team of the Year predominantly featured Manchester City players, it acknowledged Saka’s contributions to Arsenal’s success. While Haaland’s record-breaking performances should have confirmed his chances to win both awards, for the FA, it wasn’t enough, as per fans. Many fans congratulated the English forward. Many also made it appear that he had won the trophy in sympathy for his club’s failure to win the League. Here are some reactions:
