Chelsea were thrashed 3-1 by their London rivals Arsenal on Tuesday. The Blues are yet to find their first victory in the second stint of manager Frank Lampard who has lost all six of his games at the Bridge.
There were plenty of narratives tonight at the Emirates stadium. It’s a huge home game for Arsenal in terms of their title push. On the other hand, Frank Lampard was looking for the first win of his second spell with Chelsea.
Jorginho and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang started against their former sides. The hosts had control of the opening 15 minutes as Bukayo Saka’s header was pushed away. Granit Xhaka also had an attempt to fall short. Captain Martin Ødegaard to stepped up for their squad, as his strike from inside of the box hit off the crossbar and beyond Kepa.
Ben Chilwell later had the best chance to equalise for the visitors but his shot was well saved by Aaron Ramsdale. Arsenal doubled their lead thanks to another Ødegaard goal in the 31st minute. Just after three minutes after Ødegaard’s second goal, Gabriel Jesus extended the lead further to 3-0 in the first half.
Chelsea were lacklustre even in the second half. They struggled to connect on the pitch. But Chelsea suggested that they were still in this match when Noni Madueke pulled one back in the 65th minute.
Meanwhile, some defensive brilliance from Thiago Silva prevented Arsenal from scoring a fourth. Silva juggled the ball on his knee and cleared it off the line.

One fan wrote, “Arsenal ain’t improved, Chelsea are just sh*t“. While another fan wrote, “Chelase Is breaking my Heart“. And a third fan wrote, “Naah! Get this guy called lampard out of Chelsea ASAP! “.
