Points are shared at the top of the league as Arsenal and Liverpool drew the game at Anfield 1-1. The game was competed closely by both teams, and it was Gabriel Magalhaes and Mohamed Salah’s goals that created the difference.
The game was, however, notorious for another reason, and it was for none other than questionable refereeing, yet again in the league. The Premier League referees were inconsistent with their decisions and fans believe they also showcased an inability to make complete utilization of VAR.
One such incident includes Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, who was almost captured dribbling the ball with his hand as he fell in the penalty box. With fans and players protesting for a spot-kick, it was not even deemed worthy of a VAR check during the game, which added to the controversy.
The frustrating game led Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk to even ask Chris Kavanagh, the match referee if he had been drinking. Liverpool fans found the humor in the situation that could have earned them 3 points.

Many teams seek the final prize as the title race gets even sweeter. Manchester City is one such team looking to take advantage of any complacency from Liverpool or Arsenal. As the fixture between the two saw the managers share their mutual respect, they certainly did not feel the same way about the official decisions given during the match.
While some fans called the game rigged because it favored their team, others saw the humor in the decreasing quality of decisions due to referees wanting the limelight. Here are some of the reactions:
Arsenal sit at the top of the league with 40 points. The other teams below them are not far away with 39 points. At this stage, even Aston Villa could showcase themselves as worthy challengers. They sit comfortably in third place over FIFA Club World Cup Winners.
