“Salah is their owner; They always kick our a**”- Fans react as Liverpool annihilate Manchester United 7-0 in Premier League
Braces from Salah, Nunez and Gakpo help the Reds in a convincing victory
Liverpool Manchester United
Liverpool fans celebrated as the Reds came away with a glorified victory against Manchester United at Anfield. The win means they are just 7 points behind their arch-rivals United, and gain momentum in the top 4 race as the season enters its final leg. United went into the first half one goal behind, thanks to a 43rd-minute goal from Cody Gakpo. The Dutchman cut inside and curled a firm shot past goalkeeper David de Gea.
Early in the second half, Darwin Nunez doubled their lead with a clinical header. Gakpo made things go from bad to worse for Erik ten Hag’s men when he tripled Liverpool‘s lead just three minutes later. Mohamed Salah scored a 4th in the 66th minute, but they were not done yet. Nunez scored another brilliant header 10 minutes later, followed by goals from Salah and Roberto Firmino to complete the rout. Salah has now scored 12 goals against Manchester United, more than anybody else, ever.
It was a breathtaking attacking display from Liverpool, as they scored 7 goals from 8 shots on target, with some sublime finishes. It was particularly impressive from them, as United conceded 7 in a single game after conceding just 4 in the past 5 games.

This win means Liverpool is in a good position to compete for a Champions League spot and is now just 3 points behind Tottenham Hotspur who are in 4th place. The Reds have a better goal difference as well as a game in hand and will be looking to capitalize on their position. This dominant performance will be especially relieving for the Liverpool support since it has only been a couple of weeks since they were torn apart 5-2 by Real Madrid at Anfield.
Manchester United are still 7 points ahead of Liverpool who are in 5th, and will remain confident that they can secure a place in the top 4. Their fans will be surely be disappointed after losing such a big game, but there is no reason to panic. They have already won a trophy this season, and look primed to fiercely compete for two more. However, they must recover from this setback quickly as they play Real Betis in the Europa League round of 16, in just 3 days.
