Following Lionel Messi‘s arrival, Inter Miami has enjoyed great success in terms of winning games and lifting silverware. But, the club needs Messi to be present in the squad. Stats showcase a horrendous run of form in the games the World Cup winner has not been available. Since Messi’s injury, the club find themselves in a tough position. With just 1 win in their last 6 games, Messi’s absence is being felt. A recent development surrounding the MLS has put fans into excitement.
As per MLS rules, Lionel Messi is allowed to leave Inter Miami on a short-term loan deal. This is effective, provided that the club in question does not qualify for the playoffs. Miami sit 14th in the Eastern Conference. Their recent form and the injury of Messi points to an unlikely playoff finish. This opens the door for a short-term loan deal for Miami #10.
Previously, David Beckham was loaned out to AC Milan, and Thierry Henry to Arsenal on similar grounds. Fans on X have been buzzing at the possibility of a potential return of their legend, Messi, to Barcelona. The Barca legend will be more than welcome at the club.
However, a move to Spain remains unlikely, given Messi has been suffering from injury and is in recovery. Neither the club nor the player has expressed their desire to initiate such a loan deal.
Reactions to Lionel Messi potentially returning to Barcelona
The four-time Champions League winner and club legend had an abrupt end to his career at the Camp Nou. After leaving the club in 2021, Leo joined Miami after 2 years at PSG.
A fan said Messi needs to rest well in the face of his recent injury. Another was confident that the move was not happening. One fan said, “It’s no coincidence that Barca has the #10 vacant.”
Fans reacted to a potential move away from MLS for Lionel Messi. Here are some of the reactions:
After potentially failing to reach the playoffs, Messi will be out of action for at least 4 months. However, the World Cup winner has been called up by Lionel Scaloni. Argentina is set to face Paraguay and Peru in the International break.
Lionel Messi missed four straight games at Miami. His recovery will determine his return. It is also believed that the player is sitting out games as a caution.
