Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno might be on the end of facing retrospective action from the FA (Football Association) after his incident with the Bournemouth ball boy. During Fulham’s 3-0 defeat, the German goalkeeper was seen pushing the young boy near the touchline.
Leno had already received a booking in the game, and he could be facing further disciplinary sanctions for losing his head. However, the goalkeeper apologized to the boy after the incident while trying to collect the ball in the second half.
Marco Silva, the Fulham manager has defender his player stating that the ball boys had instructions to delay the restarts and further spoil the game’s momentum. This fueled the players’ frustration on the pitch, and even though Leno did not forcefully push the boy, he empathized with what he must have felt at the moment. He further labelled Leno as a ‘top professional’.
Continuing their winning streak, Bournemouth has climbed up to the 10th place in the league, while Fulham is 13th. It was also their third consecutive loss in the company. However, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola cleared the air, saying that no such instructions were given to his ballboys.
