Despite rumors surrounding his transfer and retirement from the game, Real Madrid’s veteran midfielder, Luka Modric, shut out his critics with a dominant performance against Villareal. After providing a fantastic first-touch assist for Jude Bellingham‘s goal, Modric sealed the game with the last goal.
Real Madrid also controlled most of the game with a solo effort from Brahim Diaz. With this game, Modric becomes the oldest player to score and assist in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season.
Jude Bellingham continues his goalscoring form and has partnered with Luka Modric. He now has 17 goals in just 20 appearances for the club. Real Madrid now takes the top spot in La Liga, with Girona having a game in hand.
At 38, Luka Modric shows no signs of being worn out. He has been performing consistently ever since rumors around his contract started surfacing. It has been reported that Madrid is not interested in offering him a new contract. However, with his unstoppable form, he has given much to the board to think about to fulfill his dream of retiring from the club.
