“He’s a United fan after all”- Fans react to Indian cricket star Jasprit Bumrah imitating Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford‘s influence has made its way to the ICC Cricket World Cup. India’s Jasprit Bumrah pulled the England International’s celebration after dismissing Afghanistan player, Ibrahim Zadran.

Marcus Rashford first showcased the celebration last season where the player was scoring goals for fun under Erik ten Hag. “But the celebration, it’s mentality. Nice, innit. Simple. But it’s just traveled massively. Everyone around the world is doing it now,” Rio Ferdinand revealed after speaking to Marcus at Carrington. Many football stars such as Bukayo Saka, Ruben Neves, and Joshua Kimmich, have been spotted doing the celebration. It might not be Rashford’s celebration but him recently doing it after every goal he scores has put his label ahead of the celebration. Now, the celebration has even reached the world of cricket as well.

Rashford revealed the mental struggles he was facing, in October 2022, stating, “I was struggling at times with more mental things. It wasn’t really my own performance but other things off the pitch.” He further added, “Too often last season, I wasn’t in the right headspace for games. I wasn’t surprised by some of the stuff that was happening.” Since then the player had an incredible following season during Manchester United’s 22/23 campaign scoring 30 goals in all competitions.

Currently, the player is struggling with form scoring only once this season. Fans have also noticed that the player is low on confidence at times. With Manchester United only winning a handful of games this season, Marcus Rashford will be hoping to replicate his performances from last season.

Fans watching the ICC World Cup were quick to notice the resemblance of Bumrah’s wicket-taking celebration with Rashford’s mentality celebration. Instantly, there were photos of the two side by side on social media. Marcus Rashford, who has a history of sharing Instagram stories of people imitating his celebration, is being awaited by fans of the two sports to acknowledge the Indian Cricket Team’s bowler’s celebration.

Currently with the England National Team as part of the squad called up by Gareth Southgate, fans may have to wait a while for the forward to respond. Here are some of the reactions:

Jasprit Bumrah, in the past, has publicly made it known that he is a Manchester United fan, visiting their home ground of Old Trafford back in 2021 after the IPL season came to an end. The cricket player was also given a United jersey with his name on it along with the kit no. 93, similar to the one he wears for the Indian National Team.
