Seventeen-year-old Marc Guiu, La Masia talent, scored his first professional goal for Barcelona against Athletic Club. It only took the youngster 23 seconds after entering the game in the 79th minute, to score his senior goal.

Joao Felix provided a brilliant pass, and Guiu, wearing the number 38 jersey, calmly slotted the ball into the net as he celebrated with a loud “VAMOS!” Soon his teammates joined him in his joyous moment.

Barcelona’s recent victory over Athletic Club has moved them into third place, with only one point separating them from Girona and Real Madrid. This is good news for Xavi, their coach, especially since Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Sevilla the night before. In the upcoming days, Barcelona faces important matches against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League and then the big one, El Clasico.

Furthermore, a win against Real Madrid, their arch-rivals, at Estadi Olímpic Lluís could not only put them on top of the table but also put Los Blancos to a halt. The Spanish team has been flying since Jude Bellingham arrived.

Born in Granollers, a town near Barcelona, Marc Guiu, a product of La Masia, scored in his first professional game, making the club proud. After the game, Barcelona players congratulated him for helping secure a victory. In the stands, Marc’s family, especially his mother, was moved to tears by his goal for the team.

Barcelona’s famous youth academy, La Masia, has provided the world of football with a plethora of amazing players in the past including players the names of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi etc. Now a new wave of players have emerged from the academy with many making a name for themselves for the first team. 

19-year-old Gavi, Lamine Yamal, 16, and now Marc Guiu, 17 have all played an important role for the club this season already. Xavi’s faith in Barcelona’s academy has proved fruitful as the youngsters have already won the club several points this season and with Barcelona’s financial issues present, the investment into their youth is vital.
