Uruguay announce 2022 FIFA World Cup 26 man squad

Diego Alonso, manager of Uruguay revealed the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Ronald Araujo of Barcelona made the list, despite being a big question for the tournament due to an adductor longus avulsion injury in his right thigh. The roster was released early on November 11, 2022.

Luis Suarez, Edison Cavani, Darwin Nunez, and Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde were all called to the big squad. Atlético Madrid player, along with veteran defender Diego Godin, is a part of Alonso’s 26-man Uruguay squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Both players have been selected for the contest in Qatar, which begins on November 20.

Uruguay has been pulled into Group H of this year’s World Cup, alongside Portugal, Ghana, and South Korea. They will face Ghana for the very first time since their iconic quarter-final match in 2010 when Luis Suarez was sent off for a handball on the line that kept Uruguay from being eliminated.

Suarez is still a member of the Uruguay squad 12 years later. With 68 goals in his career, the 35-year-old Uruguayan was called to Alonso’s squad. Alonso has chosen three players from the Premier League. Darwin Nunez of Liverpool, midfielders Rodrigo Bentancur of Tottenham, and Facundo Pellistri of Manchester United are all participating.
