Real Madrid has completed the signing of R. C. D. Espanyol striker Joselu. The Spanish striker reportedly joined Real Madrid on a loan deal that would last till June 2024.
Joselu’s signing was in the air for quite some time ever since Real Madrid lost their first choice No.9, Karim Benzema. The French chose to experience new adventures and moved to the Saudi League to join Al Ittihad. He signed a mega deal worth €200m in salary per season. The club also released Mariano Diaz who was another option in that position.
Espanyol is set to receive €500k loan fee as loan fees from Real Madrid for the striker. The contract also has a buy option clause of €1.5 million. But it’s not mandatory.
Real Madrid has officially issued a statement where the club has confirmed the signing of Joselu and has mentioned that the official presentation would take place tomorrow in Real Madrid City.

The club has also been linked for allegedly being the probable destination of Kylian Mbappe or Harry Kane next season.
Fans are reportedly not happy with Madrid signing Joselu as a possible Benzema replacement as they see him as a downgrade. They seem not to be very confident about how much can the signing have an impact on the club. Many fans even took to social media to show their discomfort with this decision. One fan wrote,” Let’s all laugh at Real Madrid.” While another fan wrote, “Madrid fell off.” And a third fan wrote, “Is he the new club shop manager.”
