Newcastle United draws with Leicester City to qualify for Champions League

Leicester City saw a feeble chance for them to be in the Premier League without getting relegated. The Foxes locked horns in their away fixture against Newcastle United. Newcastle United has never lost a match in their home ground against the Foxes. The match ended with a draw securing the host’s position in the Champions League.

Newcastle United had clearly more position in the game. The home side maintained 78% possession with 23 shots with four on target. The Dean Smith side hardly could see themselves hitting the ball with anger in the Newcastle goal.

The efforts of Almiron, Trippier and Alexander  Isak saw it hit the woodwork and some brilliant saves by the Fox keeper. A draw was enough for Newcastle United but not for Leicester City. Things got dirty for Leicester City when they failed to convert the free-kick in the final minutes taken by James Maddison’s free-kick not ending in the back of the net.

With this being said, Leicester will now expect to win their final game against West Ham United. On the other hand, they would definitely want Everton not to win their last against Bournemouth. The Foxes would like Leeds United not scoring nine goals against Tottenham Hotspur in their final game.

Leicester City almost ending their hopes of not getting relegated after today’s game

The nail-biting match between Leicester City and Newcastle United was a must-win for the Foxes to protect themselves from relegation. On the other hand, Newcastle could only fathom a draw to play their Champions League for the first time. The match ended with a draw with feeble chances left for Leicester to end up not getting relegated for the Championship

Fans react after the match pouring emotions on Leicester City. One fan took to Twitter to comment ‘Relegation for sure’. Another fan blamed the coach of the Foxes Dean Smith saying, ‘This fraud should never get another job after this‘. One fan even compared Leicester City, which won the Premier League years back, to Leicester City now. He commented ‘Shame to see Leicester like this. From winning the league a few years ago to probably the worst team I’ve seen at SJP, not sure they’ve even got out of their own half.’

Leicester City is now in a must win position in their final game. The Dean Smith side need to win their final home fixture against West Ham. On the other hand, they also need a bit of fortune to expect Everton losing their final game against Bournemouth.
