Newcastle United defeated Manchester United 2-0 to leapfrog them into third place on the Premier League table. Goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson were enough to seal the victory for the Magpies.
The first half was dominated by Newcastle as they kept bombarding Manchester United with attacking intent. However, they were unlucky to not be able to open the scoring in the first 45.
The second half turned out to be much different as Newcastle opened the scoring via Joe Willock in the 65th minute. Allan Saint Maximin’s floating headed cross was easily nodded home by Willock as the deadlock was broken.
Super sub Callum Wilson doubled the lead in the 88th minute to put the game to bed. Kieran Trippier’s wide free kick found Wilson’s head who put it out of reach of United keeper David De Gea.

The win for Newcastle United mean they go level on points with Manchester United on the Premier League table. Thanks to their goal difference, the Magpies overtook United to go up to third.
Manchester United were unable to score in a match yet again in a match as they reached 5 hours without a goal in the league. The loss also meant United are winless for three games in the league(7-0 loss to Liverpool, 0-0 draw to Southampton).
Newcastle will now hope to secure the top 4 finish as they prepare for the final few games of the season. They take on West Ham United next. As for United, they take on Brentford.
