Carrying on the legacy of soccer, Nigel James was not short of praises for his daughter Lauren James over his son, Reece James. With one of the best performances ever witnessed in the tournament, the English forward has reminded her father and fans of Lionel Messi‘s and Diego Maradona‘s run for their World Cups. In comparison with the game’s most significant, the standards have been set extremely high by Lauren’s father for her to be a prominent figure in the game.

“And you just look and think to yourself, that word freedom, that’s what you talk about, Ronaldinho, Messi, those players, Maradona had that freedom to play. She can do that. Lauren (has) done goals like that when she was younger for years,” he told BBC Sport. While the bar has been set extremely high for the English goalscorer, it’s to be seen if she can draw more attention towards the women’s game.
