FC Barcelona banned players from showering in the stadium and training center

FC Barcelona has shifted to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys due to the Camp Nou undergoing renovations. The stadium is based in Barcelona, which means the club can play in the city they are based in. Unfortunately, the city has been going through a problem that has affected the Catalonian club as well. 

The area of Catalonia has been undergoing a drought due to a low amount of rainfall in the area. Starting from September 2022, the city has had a scarcity of water, and due to that the FC Barcelona players have now been banned from showering. 

The Ministry of Climate Action, Food, and Rural Agenda has instructed the club that the players are not allowed to shower in the stadium and the training center due to the drought. The players have been told to shower at home from now on, and if they showered in the restricted area they will be charged.

What Barca has to do is compensate for the water it uses with irrigation and save with showers. Whether in Montjuic [stadium] or in the Ciutat Esportiva [training facility].

Barcelona will need to import water for its use or pay an inflated price for the consumption of water. Their use of water to water the stadium pitch and training center will also be charged much more than the usual rate. 

Barcelona has had a roller coaster 2023 season

Xavi Hernandez and his men entered the 2023/24 La Liga as defending champions and a team to look out for. They signed Joao Felix, Ilkay Gundogan and Joao Cancelo to improve his team as well. Unfortunately the club has had a slump in form, with the team struggling to challenge for the title.

They have only lost 2 matches all season, but stand 4th in the league. In 16 Matches, they have won 10 and lost 4, but find themselves 7 points behind league leaders Girona. The two matches lost in the league were against the teams in the top 2 spots, Real Madrid and Girona. 

Although they are struggling in the league, they have hit the jackpot in the Champions League. They have qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League after 2 years. They won 4 out of the 5 matches they have played but lost 1-0 to Shakhtar Donetsk. They play Antwerp on the night of 13th December, and on the weekend face Valencia.
