After being exiled from football due to a sexual assault case for over a year, Mason Greenwood returned to Professional football for Getafe in 2023. On loan from Manchester United, the forward has started to catch the eyes of some clubs. One of them is the Catalan giants, FC Barcelona.
Greenwood has scored twice and assisted thrice so far this season in 12 appearances. Although he started slow, he caught on and caught the eye of FC Barcelona. According to talkSPORT, Atletico Madrid have joined Barcelona in scouting the forward.
Getafe President, Angel Corres, has already expressed his desire to turn his loan into a permanent transfer as well, but that will be possible only at the end of the season. Getafe currently lie in 9th place with 22 points.

It is believed that the Red Devils don’t believe they have a future with Mason Greenwood, who was embroiled in a sexual assault case. He was let go after the victim, Harriet Robson, dropped all charges against him. Despite being contracted till 2025, the club is looking to offload him due to the outrage of fans.
The move has left many Culers divided. While many are excited for the forward to join them, many are not comfortable with his past. Many have said they would reconsider their support of the club if Mason Greenwood joins.

After his partner released pictures and audio Mason Greenwood was arrested and suspended by Manchester United as well. He was charged with sexual assault and threatening to kill, but after all charges were dropped he returned to football.
Manchester United had decided to assist him in his career’s future and was sent on a loan to Getafe. He made his first team debut in a 3-2 win against Osasuna, where he played in the final 13 minutes. He did not start until Getafe’s 4th league fixture against Athletic Bilbao, where he got his first goal involvement.
His first goal came against Celta Vigo, where he scored in the 33rd minute. His next goal came after 48 days when he scored Getafe’s opener against UD Almeria. He also scored a brace during Getafe’s massacre of CF Tardienta in the Copa del Rey, which ensured a victory of 12-0.
Greenwood’s future now lies in his hands. With big clubs like FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, his future in the sport looks secure. Either way, his future in England is now over, with United selling him in 2024.
