FC Barcelona set to seek revenge on Chelsea after cashing their all in to sign Marcos Alonso: Reports

According to reports, Barcelona is hopeful that they may recruit Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso as their sixth summer acquisition.

Since the beginning of the transfer window, the high-spending Catalan giants, who have already spent almost £140 million this summer, have been linked to the Spanish full-back.

Alonso is eager to transfer, and according to Spanish daily Sport, Barcelona is confident in their ability to close the deal this summer.

Alonso would probably have to take less than the £100,000 per week pay he is now receiving at Stamford Bridge due to Barcelona’s economic state.

In order to give Barcelona mainstay Jordi Alba some competition in the upcoming season, Xavi wants to sign Alonso. Barcelona hopes to close the deal for roughly £7 million, but they are up against the Premier League team’s desire to pay more for the Spaniard.

Chelsea is in the process of finalizing a deal to acquire Brighton full-back Marc Cucurella for about £52.5 million. On Wednesday, Brighton released a statement to refute rumors that a deal had been agreed for the 24-year-old. Cucurella is scheduled for a checkup on Thursday and is almost ready to sign a six-year deal.

Contrary to false rumors from various media sites this evening, no agreement has been struck with any team to sell Marc Cucurella, according to a tweet from Brighton.

As negotiations about Levi Colwill moving in a different direction, either on a loan or a permanent transfer with a buy-back option, are still ongoing, the clubs decided against reaching an official agreement.

Given that both teams’ management is eager for Alonso to move to the Nou Camp, Cucurella’s transfer to Stamford Bridge may hasten the process of his doing so.
