Sebastien Haller is geared up for his comeback to the beautiful game after battling testicular cancer for months. The Dortmund striker has customized a unique pair of shoes for his Bundesliga return. The 28-year-old has been out of action since last summer. He hasn’t played a lot of German football since moving to Dortmund from the Dutch club Ajax.

Sebastien Haller posted a series of pictures on Instagram, announcing his return to the pitch in style. The Dortmund star’s shoes had written “f*ck cancer” over them, referring to the footballer’s fierce battle against testicular cancer. He came on the pitch against Augsburg after the 60-minute mark, replacing teammate Youssoufa Moukoko.

The Dortmund star featured in a friendly game against FC Basel last week. It was his first professional game in over a year. Sebastien Haller even scored in Dortmund’s 6-0 victory over their opponents, marking his return to club football. According to various reports, the Ivory Coast striker will be a regular starter for Dortmund after making his return against Bundesliga side Augsburg.

Dortmund coach Edin Terzic was optimistic about the African’s return as he showed signs of improvement during Dortmund’s training session as well. “We are proud of him. how he fought through. We are happy he is finally available to us,” the Dortmund boss exclaimed. Dortmund needs to buckle their season up as they sit in the sixth position, seven points from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old striker was diagnosed with testicular cancer in July 2022. He was forced out of the football pitch following his depreciating health.

Sebastien Haller went through two surgeries before finally defeating cancer. He felt unwell during Dortmund’s pre-season training camp set up in Switzerland and was immediately admitted to the local hospital. Sebastien Haller made a comeback to professional football after over a year. Before playing in the Bundesliga, Haller featured in two friendly games for Dortmund to find his form back.
