The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted jointly by Canada, the USA, and Mexico, has initiated its promotional efforts. FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently featured on a Fox Sports show alongside rapper Drake, who hails from Toronto, one of the host cities.
This collaboration marks the first time the tournament will be held in Canada. Drake, a hometown hero, will be supporting the Canadian team. Excitement is mounting as preparations for the event kick off.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rapper engaged in a lively conversation with Infantino, discussing Toronto’s role in the upcoming World Cup. He highlighted Canada’s diverse culture, especially in his hometown, anticipating an energetic atmosphere during the tournament. Drake also emphasized the unmatched passion and warmth of Canadians, inviting visitors with open arms. Moreover, he is also expecting lively streets in Toronto and Vancouver filled with passionate fans.

Infantino seemed elated upon learning about Canada’s eagerness to host the upcoming World Cup and responded to the enthusiastic call by the rapper. Further, he praised Drake as an incredible and genuine soccer enthusiast.
The last FIFA World Cup had around 1.5 billion people watching the final live on television, and one can expect this number to go to 2 Billion the next time around. During the broadcast on Fox, Infantino also revealed that the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in New York. While it sounds huge for the global audience, Americans themselves were not that proud. This is because it is in New Jersey to be precise but home to NFL teams ‘New York Jets’ and the Giants.

The Azteca stadium in Mexico will be hosting the opening match on June 11th, 2026. It is the same stadium where Diego Maradona lifted the trophy in the final of the 1986 World Cup with Argentina. Meanwhile, FIFA also confirmed that the final will take place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19th. The third-place match is set for the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The tournament will feature 48 teams organized into 12 groups of four.
