FIFA LAMBASTS Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to share WORLD PEACE video message in Qatar World Cup Final
Volodymyr Zelensky and FIFA President
FIFA runs the show for one of the most watched sports in terms of entertainment. The Qatar World Cup has created a lot of controversies but it also comes during one of the most intense wars taking place between Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine has faced colossal damage recently in their second largest country, Kharkiv.
Volodymyr Zelensky considered targeting one of the most watched sporting events in the history. The final between France and Argentina would have eyes from all around the world. Zelensky’s vision to share a global peace message could have been immense, starting the Final after a World Peace message.
A source said as stated by CNN, “We thought FIFA wanted to use its platform for the greater good,” after FIFA rejected their offer to share a live video. However, it is said that the FIFA governing body and Ukraine are still in conversational terms. FIFA has not commented on the situation as and when CNN reached out to them.
Zelensky has previously appeared live via video in the Group of 20 Nations summit, Grammys, and the Cannes Film Festival. The treatment of LGBTQ+ people in Qatar has already been an explosive affair already.

Although Gianni Infantino said, “We are a global organization and we don’t discriminate against anyone, we are defending values, we are defending human rights and rights of everyone at the World Cup. Those fans and the billions watching on TV, they have their own problems.”
He added, “They just want to watch 90 or 120 minutes without having to think about anything, but just enjoying a little moment of pleasure and joy. We have to give them a moment when they can forget about their problems and enjoy football.”
Federation’s response towards the Ukrainian President does come as a shock. His request came after Russia unleashed missiles over every major city of Ukraine leaving plenty fallen under plaster. FIFA should be considering Zelensky’s request as he might not get a stage bigger than the FIFA World Cup Final.
