Zinedine Zidane is one of the most respected figures in the footballing world. Zidane has been out of the managerial game for a while and has been on a sabbatical. Reports emerged from Spain that Florentino Perez wants the Frenchman back at Madrid, however, there is a catch.
Zidane led Real Madrid to an unprecedented three consecutive Champions League wins, utilizing the primes of all-time greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, and Marcelo. Although Zidane’s second time with Real Madrid was not as successful, he did bring the La Liga title back to the Spanish capital during a difficult period. But the way he departed the club left a bitter taste in the mouth of the Madrid top brass. Since then, the legendary Frenchman has stayed out of the game.
Now reports emerge that Florentino Perez wants the legend back at Santiago Bernabeu. However, he does not want Zidane to join as a manager, but as an advisor. Zidane’s presence at Madrid will bring calmness and experience to the bench and at the same time, Zidane will be under less pressure at a non-management job.
Rumors suggest this move will also allure Kylian Mbappe further to the Spanish capital. However, Zidane may not accept this offer and may have higher ambitions of his own. Zidane and his footballing acumen would be a great addition to Madrid. However, the Frenchman can also refuse the offer to head for new pastures or to help his older club, Juventus- which is in deep water. Zidane’s next move is unknown and the world watches the legend mull over possibilities.
