“Football owes Lionel Messi a World Cup”- New Manchester City signing Julian Alverez on national teammate
Lionel Messi
New Manchester City signing, Julian Alverez claims that the football world owes Lionel Messi a world cup. Lionel Messi has managed to win every possible trophy there is to win at the club level. Even at the international level, Messi finally lifted the Copa America last year as his first international trophy with Argentina.
However, the one trophy that Messi has failed to lay his hands on is the World Cup. Coming very close in 2014 when Argentina lost the finals to Germany 1-0 in extra time. The 2023 World Cup is possibly Messi’s last chance to complete football.

Is Argentina’s squad strong enough with Lionel Messi to win the World Cup
Argentine are definitely better than they were during the 2018 World Cup. The team now have a reliable goalkeeper, a balanced midfield and one of the strongest attacks in international football. They also defeated Euro champions Italy in the Finnalissma recently.
Hence, Lionel Messi will definitely feel that his chances of lifting the coveted trophy are better than before. However, like Argentina, many other teams have also seen considerable improvement in their squads. Namely, Spain, Italy Germany, England and Portugal. Hence, it won’t easy for any nation to lift the World Cup.
