Considered one of the best midfielders of the Premier League in the last decade, Yaya Toure could be returning to England after leaving Manchester City back in 2018.
Yaya Toure last played a competitive game back in 2020 for Qingdao FC in China. The former Barcelona player-turned Coach is now all set to return to the Premier League where he became one of the best midfielders of the decade.
He’s worked with the coaching staff at QPR, Blackburn and the Welsh national team before receiving his own coaching badge from the UEFA.
Yaya Toure to be given his own ‘Age Group’ team to coach at Tottenham
Being in charge of his own team will be the first permanent coaching job that the Ivorian is set to receive in his career. Tottenham Hotspurs are also set to rope in former striker Jermain Defoe as part of their youth coaching set-up.
According to the Evening Standard, the player will be given his own ‘Age Group’ to coach after receiving his UEFA A licence earlier this year. “Sitting in the Office the whole time – That’s not me” – Yaya Toure said at the Coaches’ Voice last year.
Yaya Toure spent 9 years at Manchester City after winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009. In that time, he managed 315 appearances for the Citizens scoring 79 goals and making 50 assists.
He won a total of 3 Premier Leagues with Manchester City along with 1 FA Cup and 1 League cup. He also had an illustrious career with Barcelona, however, his most iconic moments came in the Premier League as he became a goal-scoring midfielder for the Citizens.
