Manchester United’s young forward Mason Greenwood had his bail extended after a court hearing on Thursday following sexual and rape allegations put on him by his ex-girlfriend back in January.
The 20-year-old is yet to start training with the club and has been exiled by the football fraternity ever since the allegations surfaced. The player was also dropped by Nike and removed from all active squads by EA Sports in the FIFA 22 games.
Police issue statement following bail extension for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood
“Following a hearing yesterday (Thursday 23 June 2022), a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill on Sunday 30 January 2022 remains on bail.”
“As the outcome of bail reviews does not impact the progression of investigations, Greater Manchester Police will not be providing any further updates in relation to this case until the suspect is charged or released facing no further action.”
Mason Greenwood was one of the rising talents emerging from the Manchester United academy until the allegations surfaced earlier this year. The player has already made 129 appearances for the club and scored 35 times.
However, his actions have been condemned by all and will be condemned until the charges are either dropped or the player is brought to justice.
