Ex-PSG player Jérôme Rothen claims Lionel Messi is losing his temper more often. Rothen criticizes Messi, especially since winning the World Cup in December 2022. Messi, now the most decorated player, has undergone a notable behavior shift, according to Rothen.

According to Rothen, Lionel Messi now uses his World Cup as a ‘weapon’ or a ‘stick’ to beat any opponent who dares stand against him. Following Messi’s verbal altercation with Brazil youngster Rodrygo Goes, Rothen said that Argentines are the first to attack others when it comes to behavior.

The Frenchman said:

Today you can't even touch him (Messi). He used to have an image of a sweet person, but now his true nature has started coming out and he's been caught.

In an extended rant about Argentina #10 and the whole national squad, Jerome Rothen said that they should ‘have more class’.

When it comes to their [Argentina’s] behavior, they are the first to attack others. Starting with the star of this team, Leo Messi.

Further, he has been widely critical of Lionel Messi in the past, lashing out at the Argentine for his ‘undeserved’ Ballon d’Or.

He also claimed that he would not attend PSG games anymore had Lionel Messi extended his contract with the Parisians. Rothen made 180 appearances for PSG and won the French Cup and League Cup with the club in his career.

Ex-Inter Miami player breaks silence regarding sacking following Lionel Messi comment

Former Inter Miami player Nick Marsman has broken his silence regarding his sacking by the club. The Dutch goalkeeper was relieved of his services by Miami after he gave an interview regarding Lionel Messi’s arrival at the club at the start of last season. His sacking came on the back of an interview in which he claimed that Inter Miami‘s decision to bring the World Cup winner to their team may have turned on its head.

The Dutchman revealed that even though the club decided to sack him for his comments, the entire situation was a misunderstanding. He said that his words had been taken out of context and that he had also spoken to Lionel Messi about the same. Marsman said,

Inter Miami are an ambitious club where they try time and again to make the impossible a reality. There were reasons that made me dismiss the possibility of Messi's arrival at the time.

However, Marsman has clarified that his statement predates Lionel Messi joining Miami. He disapproved of the misunderstanding, stating people thought he said it after the announcement, but that wasn’t the case, according to the Dutchman. Messi’s arrival fulfilled a childhood dream for Marsman, who confirmed discussing it with the Argentine. Currently on loan at Antonio FC, he sets the record straight.
