France Football announces another reward to be given along side Ballon d’Or in 2022

The Muller Trophy, named in honor of the Legendary Gerd Muller, will be presented by Ballon d’Or France Football as their best striker award.
Recently, the Ballon d’Or France Football account tweeted the following “The Müller Trophy awards the best striker who scores most goals for his club and his national team in offcial games during the previous season. Gerd Müller was one of the best German players of his generation, he won the 1970 Ballon d’Or”
Gerd Muller is recognised as one of the finest goal scorers in the history of the sport. He is well known for his precise finishing, especially in and around the six-yard box. He scored 68 goals in 62 appearances for West Germany at the international level. At the club level, he spent 15 years with Bayern Munich where he scored 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games, setting a record that he still holds today. He scored 65 goals in 74 club matches across Europe. Müller, who scored more than one goal per game for West Germany, was ranked 21st among all-time international goal scorers as of July 11, 2021, despite taking part in less games than any other player in the top 48.
Ballon d’Or is one of the most esteemed awards
An annual football award given out by France Football is called the Ballon d’Or. The player who was regarded to have played the finest football over the course of the preceding 12 months receives the award, which was decided upon by football journalists. Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the best footballers of all time, are at the top of the list of winners. After taking home the trophy at the previous ceremony in 2019, Messi won it for a record-breaking seventh time in 2021. Ronaldo, who has won five trophies to date, is in second place.

This award is given to individuals by France football after voting by journalists as well. Over the years, football has featured some outstanding athletes. They have received this honour more than once, which is an impressive accomplishment in and of itself.
Only the top athletes in the world has the qualifications to contend for the prestigious prize. The Ballon d’Or was first awarded to players from Europe, and then it was expanded to include players who played for clubs on the continent. But starting in 2007, every player is qualified and the awards’ scope includes every region of the globe.
