The statements told by the former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney about The Brazilian midfielder Casemiro goes viral. He questioned the decision of choosing Casemiro and said that he was a similar player to Christian Eriksen and that the team needed a different strategy.
He said, “Ideally, they should be signing players in their early to mid-twenties, and Casemiro is similar to Christian Eriksen — someone who has been a good player but are they going to help the club move forward?” In his lines, he also said that the team should have gone for someone younger.
Wayne Rooney also shared words of respect for Casemiro but he believed that Frenkie de Jong would have been a better choice. He said, “Frenkie de Jong would be a better fit.” The reason for this statement would be because Frenkie is much younger and his versatility to play anywhere in the midfield and defense.
Rooney also admitted him to be a great player because they have shared fields and also praised his work rate and dedication but only doubts if he could be good for Manchester United.
He added, “Casemiro will undoubtedly improve #mufc. He’s a good player. I’ve played against him and he’ll bring a bit of character, a bit of work rate, but is he exactly what United need? I’m not sure. This goes back to the need to look to the future.“
