Turkish talent, Arda Guler may finally debut for Real Madrid. According to reports, the 18-year-old is set to join first-team training. Los Blancos aims to feature him in their match against Sevilla on October 21st.

Guler came to Real Madrid from Fenerbahce for €30 million plus add-ons. However, early on, he faced a meniscus problem during the preseason tour in the US. After recovering, coach Carlo Ancelotti announced his availability before the game against Las Palmas, only for Real Madrid to later reveal that he had a left anterior rectus muscle injury, postponing his debut once again. The statement read, “Arda Güler has been diagnosed with an injury to the left anterior rectus muscle.”

Reports suggest that the young Turkish talent is now training with the first team without pain. Known as the Turkish ‘Messi,’ he’s impressed fans during his brief time in the Süper Lig. At just 18, many Fenerbahçe supporters believe he’s a special talent, unlike any since Arda Turan. Real Madrid fans eagerly anticipate his performance.

Arda Guler has signed a 6-year contract with Los Blancos and will join Madrid’s star-studded midfield of Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and many others. He will also be the club’s first Turkish player since Nuri Sahin.

What should fans expect in Arda Guler’s debut season at Madrid?

Mainly deployed as an attacking midfielder, the 18-year-old managed 20 appearances for Fenerbahçe last season, half of them coming off the bench. In his limited appearances, however, the player impressed each time with his ability to carry the ball – 20 ball carries per 90 – subliming passing and goal-creating opportunities – once every 23 minutes.

However, with remnants of the old guard in Luka Modric and Toni Kross along with the newer generation of Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler’s current status in the pecking order may be far below. Yet to make a single appearance this season – owing to injuries – Arda Guler may be required to spend the season on the bench or out on loan.

The 18-year-old is an undeniable talent with many labeling him the future of Turkish football. However, as he now represents Real Madrid, expectations and pressure will mount on the player if he finds himself lacking minutes or performing poorly. With many believing the player may have left Turkey one season too early, Carlo Ancelotti’s management of the player is vital.
