Gabriel Agbonlahor has ripped into Manchester United players after a sub-par performance against Brighton which saw the away side score 3 goals at Old Trafford.

Manchester United boasted an impressive 20-game unbeaten streak at their home ground before the Seagulls arrived. Within 90 minutes not only did the streak come to an end, it was done in dominating fashion. Brighton started the game without three of their best players Pervis Estupiñán, Evan Ferguson, and Solly March. The game started out bright for United as they caused problems for the away side. However, a goal by Danny Welbeck against the run of play was the beginning of the end for the home side.

Ex-Premier League forward Gabriel Agbonlahor ripped into this team’s performance on Talksport after the game. “Casemiro looked about 45 when he was running around the pitch,” he said criticizing the midfielder. The pundit also feels that Harry Maguire would have been crucified over the 2nd goal conceded by Lisandro Martinez‘s error.

“Let’s see the same energy for Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof. If that was Harry Maguire, you would not hear the end of it,” he believes. Gabriel believes that Harry Maguire should be in the Starting XI based on the performance shown by Man Utd stating, “Martinez could not even play out from the back, giving the ball away, Lindelof as well. Maguire deserves to be in that team.”

Things may go from bad to worse for the Manchester side as they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on the 20th of September.

Manchester United’s defensive woes continue

10 goals conceded in 5 games. Manchester United’s defense has really been struggling this season. The club, the season prior, had won the award for most clean sheets in the league last season. Now they only have one in five. What has caused this shift in defensive performances?

The Red Devils fans may argue that the injury crisis is a big issue. The likes of Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Raphael Varane are all big misses for the club. Some argue that Casemiro simply does not have the ‘legs’ to play in the Premier League as the defensive midfielder seems to have slowed down since last year. Others argue that a change in tactics has left the players bewildered which causes chaos on the field.

Regardless, Erik ten Hag has his work cut out for him. This is the first time since 1979 that Manchester United have conceded more than one goal in four successive games.

Manchester United face the German Champions, Bayern Munich next. Recent performances indicate trouble for Manchester United as they face an ‘in-form’ Harry Kane awaiting them at the Allianz Arena.
