Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus made bold claims ahead of his team’s Champions League opener on Wednesday. While talking to the press, Arsenal #9 was extremely confident when replying to the reporters’ questions. When asked about his team’s goals for the session, Jesus confidently claimed that the club looked at every competition as one that they could win.

According to the Arsenal star, the club goes into every competition and tournament thinking that they can win it. He said that the Champions League is no different, and to think otherwise would be a mistake. Gabriel further added that Arsenal are in it to win it and said that trusting teammates, staff and the manager is key to the process.

“All the competitions, all the trophies, we go to win,” said Jesus while interacting with the press. While asked about him being one of the most experienced Champions League players in the squad, Jesus admitted that the Champions League is an entirely different ballpark.

However, the 26-year-old added that every player in the squad is “brave” and is equipped to control their emotions in the competition. He also opined that players in the Premier League, the best league in the world according to him, can also perform in the Premier European competition.

Arsenal are returning to the Champions League for the first time in over seven years. The Gunners are set to kick off their UCL campaign on Wednesday against PSV Eindhoven, who are first in the Eredivisie.

How Arsenal will to line-up against PSV?

Arsenal are set to play their first Champions League game in well over seven years as they look to kick off their campaign with a win against the Eredivisie leaders. They had a disappointing finish to last season, losing out on the Premier League to Manchester City.

Therefore, Arsenal will look to go deep into this year’s UCL campaign as Mikel Arteta enjoys his 4th season in charge. With a 1-0 win against Everton and the North London Derby looming, Arteta will have to make adjustments to his squad with both matches in mind.

In goal, Arteta is likely to start Aaron Ramsdale after giving David Raya the start over Arsenal #1 against Everton. He also hinted at making in-game keeper substitutions in a recent interview. Keeping the game against Tottenham in mind, Arteta may give Takehiro Tomiyasu the start over Oleksandr Zinchenko, who put in a shift against Everton.

New signing Declan Rice will be keen to start his first Champions League game, and his performances back up his selection in the squad. Captain Martin Ødegaard is given the opportunity to lead the team into the fixture. It is likely that Kai Havertz may return to the starting XI, given his experience in the competition, having scored the winning goal in 2021.

Bukayo Saka is also undroppable in the line-up for Arteta. However, Jesus’ injury and recovery might make way for Eddie Nketiah to start the game against PSV. Gabriel Martinelli‘s injury scare makes way for goal-getter Leandro Trossard to star on the left against PSV. Arsenal are in Group B alongside Sevilla, PSV and Lens.
