Gary Lineker’s confession with ex-wife leaves son Harry Lineker red-faced

In the ‘Rest is Football’ podcast, Gary Lineker shared an embarrassing tale from his football days. At 21, as a Leicester City player, he received a FIAT UNO with his name on it as part of a sponsorship deal. This story left his son blushing.

Gary revealed: 

We are driving this car and I got Michelle when we were dating, we kind of went down a little country lane and parked up. As Harry is here, let's say a kiss and a cuddle and all that. The car then starts steaming up and we suddenly get a knock on the window.

As he went on with his story, Lineker was surprised when a person passing by recognized his car and cheekily greeted him with an “Alright Gary!” He realized he had forgotten that his name was written all over the car.

Micah Richards and Alan Shearer who were part of the podcast burst into laughter upon hearing this as the latter playfully teased Lineker, suggesting that perhaps Harry’s middle name should be Fiat.

In 1986, Gary Lineker married Michelle Cockayne while he was playing for Everton. They stayed together and had four kids as they moved to places like Barcelona, and London, and even briefly lived in Japan.

Following his 2006 divorce, attributed to “unreasonable behavior” by Michelle, the ex-England International married model Danielle Bux, 20 years his junior, in 2009. However, their marriage was brief due to differing opinions on starting a family, leading to a decree nisi ending their marriage.

Gary’s marriages haven’t harmed his children’s bond with their mother. His sons have been seen with his ex-wife Michelle on a few occasions. He also maintains a positive relationship with his ex-wife Danielle and her daughter Ellis.
