Manchester United icon Gary Neville is set to perform as a DJ in front of a 40,000-strong crowd at the Kendall Calling music festival, featuring British music heavyweights Noel Gallagher and The Streets. Neville is set to perform a set alongside The Charlatans front-man, Tim Burgess.
Transitioning from his Manchester United tenure, where he played over 600 games in 19 seasons, attention has shifted to his ventures beyond football. As a pundit and commentator with Sky Sports, he’s found success as an entrepreneur, owning Salford City FC. Recently on Dragons’ Den, he’s now exploring the music scene, showcasing diverse talents.
Gary Neville surprised his fans by joining the lineup as a DJ at the Kendall Calling music festival in Cumbria, north-western England. He is set to perform alongside The Charlatans’ lead singer, Tim Burgess in front of an audience of 40,000 spectators.
However, this isn’t Neville’s first collaboration with Burgess, as he had once played guitar for the band in front of a small audience at Hotel Football in 2015. Despite his limited experience as a disc jockey, the former English right-back, humorously confirmed his participation through a social media post, dubbing himself ‘DJ G-Dog.’
Besides these activities, Gary Neville has shown political involvement by joining the UK Labour Party in 2022. Furthermore, he stirred controversy with comments on a statement by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak about the World Darts Championship.
Time Burgess expresses ‘excitement’ in performing with Gary Neville
At the Kendall Calling festival in Cumbria, Tim Burgess from The Charlatans will perform with ex-Manchester United player Gary Neville. Tim is excited about this unexpected collaboration.
While speaking about the music festival, Burgess expressed his excitement about the possibility of DJing with the former English footballer, praising his excellent taste in music.
Moreover, he recalled the last time they shared a stage when Gary played guitar for The Charlatans at an event in 2015. While the musician could not guarantee that he and Gary would perform together, he hinted at the chance of a spontaneous sing-along with the audience.
Neville posted a meme on Instagram, accompanied by a message confirming his performance at the Kendal Calling music festival. Festival organizers declared it as the unexpected highlight of 2024 that no fan could have anticipated.
