There’s a pundit called Jamie Carragher who once said on Monday Night Football that he thought Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United to further his career,” Neville said during his airtime on Sky Sports. “I disagreed with him at the time, I don’t always get them right by the way I just thought that when he gets them wrong I might as well promote it.”

During the previous season, Carragher, along with some other pundits on live television criticised the winger for his lack of productivity. Carragher tore into the youngster during a session of The Overlap, and questioned his quality. He said, “He’s just not quite good enough for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford. That’s all it is. That’s it, he’s not quite good enough for Manchester United. He’s Tottenham or Arsenal.

Marcus Rashford has undoubtedly turned his game around this season and has been firing in all cylinders. He is third in the Premier League scoring charts behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane with 14 goals. With the brace against Leicester, he has outscored his previous highest-scoring season. He has scored 24 goals this season in total, of which 16 have come since the World Cup which is more than any other player in the world.

Even statistically, he is having a monstrous season. This season, he has 14 goals in the PL with a goal every 140 minutes which is a massive improvement against last season’s four goals in 25 games. He has also massively improved on all his performance metrics this season. He is also overperforming his 9.7 xG, a massive sign of development. He has had almost doubled the number of dribbles that led to shots (10) this season which shows that he is playing with more attacking intent.

Rashford has benefited from the departure of Ronaldo, according to reports. It can be seen as he has flourished with the service from Bruno Fernandes and co from the midfield. Manager Eric Ten Hag also plays a very attacking system where the forwards often show fluidity on the ball creating space for each other and Rashford has taken full advantage of that.
