“Get who you f*cking want”- Manchester United’s CEO blasts off over Frenkie de Jong’s delayed signing in a leaked video

Manchester United have been one of the biggest spenders in Europe in the last decade. They are almost on par with the likes of Manchester City, PSG, Chelsea and more. However, when it comes to the success on the pitch, United is far behind its rivals.

In a leaked video of Manchester United’s CEO, Richard Arnold, the official was heard talking about the club’s poor transfer strategy and how everyone is to blame for Manchester United’s poor performances and lack of silverware in recent years.

Richard Arnold has gone to a pub to speak to some Manchester United fans who were planning an anti-glazers protest as reported by The Mirror. However, someone recorded his entire interview and uploaded it on social media.

The CEO is heard saying, “We have spent £1billion on players, more than anyone in Europe. I am not thrilled with where we are and it does not sit easily on whether we can get sorted for the future. But what happened is we f***ing burned through cash.”

“We have blown through an enormous amount of money; for this summer, the money that the manager and the Director of Football wants, is there. For the future, for investing in a new stadium and that sort of stuff, to get a £250million training ground – we have got to do something. We have got to get investors in.”

“You may not like our current owners, I cannot help that, but if you want someone else to come in – they have to look, and say ok, the fans love the club and love the team. “Last year was a nightmare, it was a f***king nightmare. I was hating every game. There were the protests.”

Adding on the club’s transfer this summer, Arnold said: “Money is not a consideration in who we want. It is if the manager wants him and if he has done his homework on the player. It is £100million or £200million? Do you want me buying the players? Does that not ring a bell?”

Speaking about Frenkie de Jong’s transfer to United, he said, “For this summer, the money the manager [Erik ten Hag] and director of football [John Murtough] wants is there […] and this is the bit where.”

“What’s my job as CEO, I make sure John does his job on football. Get some f***ing players in. Money’s there, OK? Get on with it John. Money is not a consideration on who we want.

“The manager wants him [De Jong] and they have actually done the work. He’s a great player. Is it 100 or 200 [million]? I don’t know. Get who you f***ing want. Do you want me buying the players? Does that not ring a bell?”

With many Manchester United players leaving on a free transfer, United will have to spend to bring in quality players who can take the club forward. And it seems that it will be a difficult summer for Manchester United with them already having spent so much in the past and very little to show for it.
