NBA Star Giannis Antetokounmpo hit the ‘SIUU’ ahead of the Leagues Cup final featuring Lionel Messi and Inter Miami. The 2 time NBA star is a minority owner of Nashville, who was up against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup Final this Sunday. Giannis was playfully taking shots at goal ahead of the clash when he ran up to the crowd and playfully hit the ‘SIUU’.
Known for being a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, Giannis also has massive respect for Lionel Messi. Antetokounmpo purchased a minority stake at Nashville in March and delighted the crowd by burying a shot from a distance and imitating Cristiano’s classic celebration in front of the crowd. He repeated the celebration a second time too. The 7-foot ‘Greek Soccer Freak’ also went Viral when he tagged Al-Hilal amidst the club offering Mbappe an enormous amount. Ginannis joked that he was a Mbappe look-alike and asked for a contract from the club.
Al-Hilal kept the same energy in their reply and welcomed Giannis to their family by sending him a printed jersey with his name and number. Nashville currently sits 4th in the MLS and were runners-up in the Leagues Cup after losing in the final to Inter Miami.
Lionel Messi leads Inter Miami to glory; wins 44th career trophy
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami lifted the Leagues Cup on Sunday after defeating Nashville SC on penalties. The game ended 1-1 and went on to penalties where Miami won 10-9. Messi netted Inter Miami’s goal in the 23rd minute after a deft run around the defenders before a curved shot into the top left corner. Nashville equalized after half-time following which the game went on to penalties.
Miami keeper Drake Callender took center stage in the shootout, making two important saves while also netting the last penalty for Inter. Drake saved the 10th and final penalty by Nashville keeper Panicco to win Inter the title. The victory meant Messi became the most decorated player in Football, now with 44 trophies to his name, the Leagues Cup being the latest. Lionel Messi won top scorer as well as Man of the Tournament.
