Gillingham fan’s disgraceful racial abuse and gestures target Omar Bogle of Newport County. The incident has enraged the football community sparking heated debates and discussions. While the fans online could not believe how publicly the racist was showing such gestures, they now expect swift action to be taken against him.
During the Football League Two game at the Priestfield stadium on 28/10/23, Omar Bogle secured a brace to his name at Gillingham’s home ground, as Newport succeeded with a winning margin of 2-0. However, the victory was marred by an unfortunate incident.
Early in the game, in the 20th minute, Newport County were awarded a penalty shoot after Gillingham’s skipper mistimed a tackle on Bogle. The in-form Newport goalscorer took over the duty and swiped the ball toward the lower left corner of the net. During his goal celebration, Bogle ran towards Gillingham’s stands, and a fan was captured making ‘Gorilla’ gestures towards the player who was just there to silence the fans. Which he very well did!
The distasteful incident has ignited the football world along with the pundits to voice up. Many fans online have come forward in solidarity against such a disgusting racial encounter with Omar Bogle. As of now, Bogle is speculated to asses legal action towards the lifetime ban of the fan.
