In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Higuain’s father, Jorge, said that Gonzalo Higuain will end his career after the end of the MLS 2022 season. Higuain is currently playing for Inter Miami in the MLS league.

Gonzalo Higuain is currently thinking of retiring from his underrated football career. His contract with the MLS side Inter Miami expires in December 2022 and the Argentine is not thinking of continuing his career after that, as per his father.

“I don’t think he will return to Argentina, he told me that he will retire at the end of the season,” Higuain’s father told TNT Sports in Argentina.

“I’d like to see him in the world of football after the end of his career. He knows a lot about this sport. He has everything to triumph. It will be a shame if he doesn’t continue in football,” added Higuain’s father.

Higuain bid goodbye to international football in 2019, netting the ball on 31 occasions for his side, Argentina, in 75 appearances.

A look at Gonzalo Higuain‘s football career

The 34-year old Argentine striker, Gonzalo Higuain, has spent his career playing for many big clubs. He started his professional career as a youth in the River Plate club before signing at Real Madrid. He joined the Los Blancos in 2007, playing 190 matches and having 107 club goals. 

After spending the highest amount of his career at the Bernabeu, he signed for big Italy clubs like Napoli, Juventus, and Milan, scoring 71, 48, and 6 goals respectively. He then went to Chelsea on a one-year loan before moving to the MLS giant, Inter Miami in 2020 for a three-year contract. 

Gonzalo Higuain’s International Career

Gonzalo Higuain had an immensely tough and hard career in his international jersey. He was called into the Argentina squad in 2009. Since then he has played in three FIFA World Cups and three Copa America tournaments. He has 75 international caps with 31 international goals.

His side unfortunately didn’t manage to win any tournament final in which he marked his presence, including one World Cup and two Copa Americas.
