Manchester City wins a thrilling end-to-end first leg tie against Real Madrid after they won 4-3 in the Champions League semi-final at the Etihad stadium. Pep’s team was better than the Los Blancos as they dominated the game in ball possession terms and also more shots on goal. Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus scored the first two goals within 11 minutes into the match followed by Benzema’s 13th goal of the season to close the gap before halftime. Phil Loden scored a close header from Fernandinho and saw them take the two-goal lead again before Vinicius Jr. ran the entire half of the field to score Real Madrid’s second.
Bernardo Silva scored the fourth with a left-foot screamer that went past Courtois but the climax was yet to be made as Benzema scored his second from the penalty spot with a ‘Panenka’ kick to take the tie to Bernabeu next week with a one-goal trail.
Here are some Twitter reactions from across the world after the thrilling match:

Bernardo Silva wins the player of the match award for his exquisite left-footed screamer which gave Manchester City a one-goal lead in the first leg tie. He had an outstanding game and the goal gave him the award and would be crucial in Manchester City’s upcoming second-leg tie and also in the premier league. He took a stunning shot and a sublime finish at the top corner that kept Courtois flat-footed.
Manchester City vs Real Madrid: As it Happened
Manchester City wins one of the most hyped matches of the season which has been a thrilling performance from both sides as the two teams showed the world what they are capable of. Real Madrid came back stronger to keep the score 4-3 and gave themselves a chance of turning the tie around as they move to Bernabeu next week from the second leg.
Pep Guardiola’s side looks very convincing of reaching the final after their outstanding performance but they have everything to play in the next leg to reach the final of the UCL. Guardiola is relaxed after he gets all the players in full-fit conditions except Jones who was substituted in the first half.
