“I saw 11 individuals losing their heads,” grumpy Erik Ten Hag calls out Manchester United players following Liverpool humiliation

Manchester United succumbed to a 7-0 thrashing by their NorthWest rivals, Liverpool, on Sunday and the boss is clearly unhappy about it. It was Liverpool’s biggest win against the Devils and United’s biggest loss this season. They were absolutely bamboozled by the Merseyside Reds who dominated the match stats. Erik Ten Hag, the United boss had some words to say about his team’s performances.

Ten Hag, visibly upset over the team’s performance, said, “You can lose a game but not in this way. Also, the second half is… unprofessional that is not Manchester United. It can’t happen, we have to talk about it. I saw 11 individuals losing their heads. This was not Manchester United”.

Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez each scored a brace for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds before substitute Roberto Firmino put away the seventh. The United players were looking absolutely out of shape after a somewhat palatable first-half performance and failing to take what were some incredible opportunities. They were trolled mercilessly on social media platforms by enraged fans.

It came as a bolt from the blue to see United play horrendously after a wonderful season in which they won their first major trophy in six years after defeating Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final. The Red Devils face Real Betis on Friday in the Europa League Round of 16 and will hope to get a win if they are to dream of more silverware and boost the team morale.

While the loss is only their second this year, it will be a devastating sting to Manchester United’s momentum. It will be the end to their incredible 11-match unbeaten run across all competitions, which includes their excellent performances against Barcelona and their Carabao Cup win against Newcastle. Liverpool are closing in for a Champions League spot after a dreadful start to this season.
