In a shocking turn of events for the Guinea National Football Team midfielder, Morlaye Sylla has been left out of the squad that would be on its way to compete in the African Cup Of Nations. The midfielder had a dispute with the team’s manager, Kaba Diawara, whom he is accusing of stealing a prized possession he had earned while playing the game.
When Guinea played against Brazil in their 4-1 loss, Sylla had swapped jerseys with Brazil’s young sensation, Vinicius Jr. The fallout happened after the shirt went missing from the dressing room after the game. Sylla accused and pointed fingers at his teammates, eventually putting all the blame on the manager.
Morlaye Sylla insisted that a thorough investigation should be conducted regarding the situation. Tensions escalated in the dressing room, and Sylla refused to apologize for his behavior, resulting in him being outcasted from the AFCON squad.
Former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita captains Guinea’s squad and will face Cameroon, Gambia, and reigning champion Senegal. Sylla will miss AFCON after ‘accusing’ the manager of ‘stealing’, as Guinea looks to perform without him.
