Harry Kane equals Premier League legend’s goal record in London derby after scoring against Fulham
Harry Kane and Thierry Henry
The Tottenham striker Harry Kane continued his incredible strike rate in Premier League games. Harry Kane of Tottenham currently has a better minutes-to-goal ratio in London derbies than Thierry Henry of Arsenal. The England international has developed a habit of giving his finest performance against local rivals over the years.
On Saturday, he continued to hold that record by scoring a brace in a 3-2 victory over West Ham. No one can outperform Kane’s current average of one goal per 113 minutes in matches against Spurs’ capital neighbours. During Henry’s illustrious eight-year stay with the Gunners from 1999 to 2007, Arsenal legend Henry played in numerous derbies but none during a loan season in 2012.
He accumulated a club record 228-goal haul during his tenure in north London, with the bar upped when it came to the skill of finding the target in north London. With six goals in seven games this season, Kane has now surpassed a century of efforts for Spurs, bringing his total to 105.
He will have to wait until November to see another Premier League derby, but after that, he will have to endure back-to-back matches at the Emirates Stadium when Tottenham hosts Crystal Palace before facing off against archrivals Arsenal.
Comparison between Harry Kane and Thierry Henry
To get to his current tally, Kane had to make 270 Premier League appearances, including three games while on loan at Norwich City in 2012–2013. Henry scored 175 goals in 258 games for a better strike rate of 122 minutes per goal as opposed to 128 minutes for Kane.
The English captain has scored 27 goals compared to Henry’s six, but Henry has scored 29 of his goals from outside the box, while Kane has 22. With an astounding 74 assists to Kane’s 37, Henry completely dominates the remaining stats.
The Highbury legend also leads Kane, who has yet to win an individual award, by four to three in terms of Golden Boots and twice won PFA Player of the Year. Additionally, and maybe most importantly, Henry has won two Premier League titles, including the double in 2001–02 and the Invincibles campaign in 2003–04. Overall, Henry won four significant trophies with Arsenal before going on to win more at Barcelona, where he won two La Liga championships, the Copa del Rey, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup.
In addition, the Gunners’ all-time leading scorer, who finished his career with 13 championships and 417 goals, 51 of them for Les Bleus, helped France win the World Cup and the Euros. Despite making it to the Champions League, League Cup, and Euro 2020 finals, Kane STILL hasn’t won a single medal in his professional career.
