“Have you got tired of watching Federer v Nadal over and over?”- Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos defends Super League
On his podcast, Toni Kroos talks about the revival of the European Super League.
Toni Kroos has never got bored of watching Federer v Nadal.
Wednesday, Real Madrid superstar Toni Kroos spoke about the European Super League on his podcast, Einfach mal Luppen. The reintroduction of the Super League has grabbed headlines.
“I think we will see the Super League. And I believe so for several reasons. The idea of the Super League has changed and deserves to be heard. If you look carefully from both angles, you will see that UEFA is by no means a great Samaritan for football fans and that the Super League has no plans, at least in the second attempt, to exclude any team because there will be no permanent founding members. It is a sports competition, an open tournament, managed by the clubs and not by UEFA because these clubs believe they do not need UEFA for that. I think this deserves at least one chance,” Toni Kroos stated on his podcast.
“Although we have already talked about the loss of passion for football, I believe that the Super League has the opportunity to reverse that situation. Let there be more enthusiasm and emotion for the games that we will be able to see. Because in the end, let’s not fool ourselves, many people always say: ‘Who wants to see Real Madrid against Manchester City every week?’ But have you gotten tired of watching Federer against Nadal over and over again? I don’t. That’s my opinion,” he added. Toni Kroos praised the Super League concept while blasting UEFA as they introduced Nations League.
It will be intriguing to observe how the football community reacts to the Super League’s revival. It will be a controversial question if the big teams of England, Germany, and France will participate after receiving harsh criticism the last time.

“I will retire here,” according to Kroos. He added, “The thing is that I still don’t know when it will be” there are ongoing talks about the contract. Carlo Ancelotti wants him to stay at the club and believes he will sign a new deal shortly. “I know what is going to happen, but I’m not going to say it because I’m not Kroos. In fact, he hasn’t told me, but the feeling I have is positive that he can renew,” Ancelotti remarked.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side currently trails FC Barcelona in the league and will want to bridge the gap against Osasuna on Sunday. They will also face Liverpool next week in the Champions League round of 16.
