“He can’t play three passes with Chelsea”- Former Real Madrid player Antonio Cassano threatens to stop watching Barcelona matches if they sign Romelu Lukaku

Former Real Madrid player, Antonio Cassano recently admitted that despite his immense love for Barcelona, he would boycott watching the team’s matches if they sign Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku next season.

Cassano, who played for many clubs including the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and AC Milan, also spoke about his love for Barca and the potential transfer of Lukaku to the Blaugrana.

I’m in love with Barca’s philosophy, but if they sign Lukaku I won’t watch a game anymore. He can’t play three passes with Chelsea where he has no competition, at Barcelona they play 55 passes before going for a goal, how could he do it?” Cassano told BoboTV.

Lukaku has endured a calamitous time at Chelsea this season since his big-money move from Inter. Lukaku just has five goals in the Premier League 2021-22 to show for his efforts and has fallen down the pecking order as it stands with Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, and even Pulisic ahead of him

Just twelve months ago, Lukaku was one of the hottest properties with several European Clubs sniffing around and that might be the reason why clubs such as his former team Inter, PSG, and recently Barcelona are interested.

Why Barcelona might go ahead and sign Romelu Lukaku?

Barcelona, under their new manager, Xavi Hernandez, signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as their new striker. The Arsenal forward made a move to the Catalan club after the likes of Memphis Depay and Ansu Fati got injured while Luuk de Jong was not fit enough to start in every match.

However, with both Depay and de Jong expected to leave Barcelona at the end of this season, it is quite possible that Barcelona might sign Lukaku, especially after his poor run at Chelsea. The Belgian can move to the Catalan club on a possible loan and can hope to improve his numbers under Xavi.
