“He didn’t get here because his name is Cristiano Ronaldo” – Toni Kroos praises former teammate amidst struggles at Manchester United

It’s been more than eight years since Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid, and it’s safe to say that during that time, the German superstar has permanently etched his name in the club’s history. During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 32-year-old has played on a squad that has won three La Liga championships, four UEFA Champions League titles, and numerous other medals.
The former Germany international forged one of the strongest midfield trios ever seen in the game with Luka Modric and Casemiro. In a recent interview, Kroos talked about his move to Los Blancos, president Florentino Perez and the Premier League.
The conversation then turned to Cristiano Ronaldo, a former teammate now playing for Manchester United in the Premier League and a star at Real Madrid. Kroos praised the captain of Portugal, saying: “I can tell that there was a lot of work that he put in to get here. You can see him playing football on the weekend, that he drives home with the Ferrari and is on the huge poster. What you don’t see: What he invests every day to stay that way, always to get better.”
“Look at him, he is 37 years old. Not just how he looks, see how he plays, how fit he is, how much he invests every day of the week, whether on the training ground, at home or in his diet. He didn’t get here because his name is Cristiano Ronaldo, but because he’s investing an incredible amount to keep going,” Kroos further added.
Toni Kroos also talked against a German who could potentially play for Real Madrid

When asked which young players he thought had a chance to play for Real Madrid, Kroos named two of his colleagues, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, as well as Bayer Leverkusen and Germany star Florian Wirtz.
“I like Florian Wirtz. We have Federico & Eduardo, who already play a really good role with us and are definitely players who will shape the next few decades.”
