Jose Mourinho spoke about the Napoli Centre Forward Victor Osimhen after his side, Roma was beaten by the Gli Azzurri 2-1 on Monday. Mourinho later compared the Nigerian striker, Didier Drogba. However, the Portuguese also warned Osimhen about his diving habits and advised him to change his ways if he intends to play in the Premier League.

“Osimhen is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive,” said Mourinho. The Portuguese manager also stated that if he were at a club with a lot of money, he would buy the Nigerian. But, he warned that if the striker moves to England, he needs to change his behavior as diving is not tolerated in the Premier League.

In a highly competitive match, Roma faced a tough challenge against Napoli. The game got off to a flying start with Victor Osimhen scoring a brilliant opener in the 17th minute to put Roma behind. However, the Romans held their ground and fought back, equalizing through Stephan El Shaarawy.

As the match progressed, it looked like both teams would settle for a draw. But, Gil Azurri had other ideas and snatched a vital winner just five minutes from time. The decisive goal came from the late introduction of Giovanni Simeone, who displayed his skill by finishing with his left foot from just inside the area.

Napoli’s late winner proved to be the difference in an intense match, securing three points for the Naples-based club. Despite the defeat, Roma can take heart from their strong performance and will look to bounce back in their next match.

“We played really good football from the first minute,” said the ex-Porto boss. “There was a period 10-15 minutes after Osimhen’s goal when we felt the injustice of going 1-0 down. Aside from that, the team was always in control, pressed high, recovered the ball, defended well,” Mourinho told DAZN.

After the match, Mourinho insisted his players take a team photo in the dressing room to demonstrate his satisfaction with their efforts. Speaking to reporters, the Roma coach suggested the visitors could have come away with a victory against Luciano Spalletti’s high-flying Partenopei.
