Shelbourne manager Damien Duff has responded to the news that keeper Scott van der Sluis is leaving the club. Van der Sluis informed the club of his decision to appear on the reality TV show Love Island. Therefore, he will not be returning to the team.
The 22-year-old signed for Shelbourne in the summer of 2022. Since then, he has made three appearances for the club. On his departure, Duff said, “Scott’s a great kid. He has been brilliant around the place for us, but he’s gone to Love Island and he won’t be back.”
Duff will be watching the goalkeeper on his new adventure.“It’s good for me as I don’t switch off, all I do is spend hours on end on the laptop on Shelbourne and League of Ireland, when he does go on it will be the first reality TV show I’ll have watched in 25 years. I will be watching Love Island,” joked the former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger.
The manager also joked, “I was shocked and saddened that Scott chose a villa in Mallorca full of beautiful single women over myself, the staff and the players. All jokes aside, I thank Scott for his services to Shelbourne FC and we all wish him the very best for the future, whatever that holds.”

Moises Caicedo is eager to relocate to Chelsea because of the financial rewards. The player is demanding £200,000 per week, which Chelsea is willing to pay. Since the winter, the Brighton and Hove Albion star has been one of the Premier League’s most sought-after individuals, but this transfer story could be coming to an end soon.
An additional key factor is the fees offered to Caicedo’s agent. The agent is also advising Caicedo to pick Chelsea amongst other rivals. Arsenal also were interested in pursuing Caicedo, however, they seem priced out.
Todd Bohely’s club finished 12th last season. They are keen to bolster the squad for this season. Mauricio Pochettino will be managing the blues from the next season and would be looking to get Chelsea back to Europe. Many players are still attracted to the club, believing Pochettino’s plans and the additional perk of high wages.
