Here’s how much it cost Chelsea to terminate Thomas Tuchel’s contract and sign Graham Potter

Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel

Graham Potter has been hired by Chelsea as a permanent replacement after the club fired its Champions League-winning manager yesterday. The front-runners in this event were two names. However, Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino are two more. In the end, Brighton’s manager assumed control of the team. The club will pay Graham Potter £15 million to release him from his contract and £7 million to Thomas Tuchel as compensation.

In the year since he took over as The Seagulls’ manager, Potter has accomplished some amazing things. He was the first Brighton manager to triumph at Old Trafford on the road. He won 2-1 over the Manchester United. Unexpectedly, Brighton is currently ranked fourth in the League. Out of the six matches in the English Premier League, they have only lost one. The likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Manchester United are among the notable Premier League teams they have defeated.

Brighton’s ninth-place result in the Premier League last year was their best ever. They had 51 points at the end of the season.

Chelsea will pay £7 million to Thomas Tuchel

After spending almost £272 million to acquire his favourite players, the new Chelsea owners fired manager Thomas Tuchel in a week. According to reports, Tuchel’s contract required Chelsea to pay him £7 million in compensation for his dismissal.

The Brighton experiment under Graham Potter was particularly intriguing since he put together a balanced team with a mix of young and seasoned players. Marc Cucurella, Yves Bissouma, Ben White, Dan Burn, and Neal Maupay are just a few of the talented individuals they cultivated and then sold for a hefty price.

Potter’s “progressive” and “unconventional” coaching methods have always been recognised, as he describes his teams as “tactically flexible, attacking, possession-based”. Potter’s arrival was announced by the London club on their official Twitter account on Thursday. Graham Potter’s services cost the Blues £15 million to release him from his contract. He committed to a five-year deal.

Graham Potter has officially said on his managerial takeover: “I am very excited to partner with Chelsea’s new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players and to develop a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of.”

The Premier League powerhouse sought a long-term hire to advance the team. Young talent like Broja, Gallagher, Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Wesley Fofana are among those they aim to develop. Graham Potter seems to be the ideal person to help develop these future players. In contrast, Chelsea’s owners must exercise patience when working on such lengthy initiatives. Brighton has also announced that Adam Lallana would serve as the team’s interim coach for this weekend’s match against Bournemouth in Potter’s place.
