Here’s how Sir Jim Ratcliffe can become full-time owner of Manchester United with this special clause in £5 billion bid
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is one of the key bidders planning to buy full shares of Manchester United.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be proposing a full buyout of Manchester United Football Club after three years if his proposed takeover bid of £5bn is accepted. The Glazer family announced they were considering selling United after 18 years of highly controversial ownership in November 2022. The Ineos billionaire is one of two parties, alongside Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is thought to be leading the bidding war.
However, as per multiple reports, Ratcliffe’s takeover bid includes ‘put-and-call options which would become exercisable in 2026’. A source reportedly told Sky News that the ‘put-and-call arrangements’ would ‘force the Glazers to sell their remaining shares to him or force him to acquire them’.
Ratcliffe is said to have valued the club higher than Sheikh Jassim. The clause in Ratcliffe’s offer will please Manchester United’s fanbase as they have been campaigning to get the ‘Glazer’s out’.
Other financial investors have shown interest in becoming minority investors by providing capital to allow United to renovate the ageing infrastructure of the Old Trafford home and Carrington training ground.
On Friday, they closed down at $19.07, giving the club a market valuation of just over $3.1bn. Manchester United’s largest fans’ group, the Manchester United Supporters Trust, has called for the conclusion of the auction “without further delay”.

Is Manchester United on the verge of signing Kim Min-Jae?

As per reports, Manchester United are keen on signing the 26-year-old central defender and they are ready to pay big money for his services. Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae has attracted a lot of attention with his performances for the Italian club this season. Napoli wants a fee of around €60 million and Manchester United is preparing to pay.
The 26-year-old is at the peak of his career and he could make a media impact at Old Trafford. The South Korean international could partner with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in a back three. Apart from his defensive prowess, the South Korean is quite impressive with his distribution and he will help Manchester United build from the back.
Currently battling for a top-four finish, Manchester United next plays against West Ham United in the Premier League. After already missing out on Champions League football last season, it’ll be intriguing to see if the Red Devils will be able to end their 2022-23 campaign within the top-four or not.
