Saudi giants Al-Nassr have made big moves in the transfer market recently. Their biggest move was when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this year. However, the side is now hit by a ban from FIFA that will not allow them to register new players.

The reason Al Nassr received the suspension was that they didn’t pay add-ons to current Championship team Leicester City in connection with a contract for Nigerian attacker Ahmed Musa. Musa was transferred from the Foxes to Al-Nassr in 2018 for a sum that is estimated to be over £14 million. Musa took part in 60 games for Al-Nassr and won the league title before being released as a free agent two years later.

The Saudi team allegedly failed to pay €460k (£390k) plus interest for performance-related add-ons, according to a FIFA official judgment. Al-Nassr was initially informed of the judgment in October 2021 and was told that if they failed to make good on their obligation to pay Leicester, a transfer registration block would be enforced.

They are now thought to have disobeyed the order and been given a registration ban as a result. That means stars from other countries cannot yet be recorded because it applies to both local and foreign transfers. According to reports, the team’s new organizational structure (after the PIF ownership) will prevent a recurrence of such an event. while the payment for Musa will be made immediately to Leicester to relieve the suspension.
